The Heritage of One Shenton Condominium

Shenton Way is a one-way street which starts at the junction of Cross Street, Central Boulevard, Raffles Quay and ends at Keppel Road. Shenton Way is named after Sir Shenton Thomas, Governor of Singapore (1934 to 1946) as an acknowledgment of his decision to stay on during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore.

Today, Shenton Way is the major trunk road in the Central Business District of Singapore. Shenton Way is flanked by modern skyscrapers on both sides of the road. The atmosphere is vibrant, upbeat and refreshing.

One Shenton Condominium was completed in 2011. Standing at 214m tall, it is the 10th tallest Residential building and 27th tallest building in the City State. I also love the vibrancy here, the proximity to amenities, access to 2 MRT lines, choice of various dining option, the reduced reliance on my vehicle to get around town, walking to and from the yearly F1 Night race, walking to the charming shop houses in China Town, shopping and dining at the swanky Marina Bay Sands, enjoying a musical at the Master Cards Theatre, walking to my efficient and so affordable manicurist and hairdresser when I can afford some time on a busy weekday, getting home for a quick shower when the weather is unbearable and so much more! I can go on and on.

I too love the iconic Lau Pa Sat Food Centre. Did you know it was completed in 1894? Today, it is also a National Monument, complete with the signature Clock Tower, Octagonal layout plan, and the Scottish Ironwork. Lau Pa Sat offers a wide array of affordable local and International food for the thousands of workers at lunchtime. In the evening, it becomes a famous eating spot for the visiting tourists and the locals who crave good old hawker style food.

After 15 consecutive quarters of decline in home prices and the recent en-bloc sales fever, bullish bids by land developers, the property market is finally showing signs of recovery. The Ministry of National Development (MND) announced on 2nd March 2018 that the DC rates for Use Group B2 {Residential, (non-landed)} have increased by 22.8% on average.
